Sweet Marjoram/Origanum (Tender Perennial)

Aromatic gray-green leaves from red-brown stems. A slow grower, 'cold-sensative' herb. Cultivated for its aromatic leaves that can be used fresh or dried. Very flavor synonymus with oregano, but a bit more balsam-like. Compact in habit. Can be used as a groundcover or border plant, container or herb garden.
Culinarily compliments vegetables, veal, beef, poultry, fish, eggs, pate and lasagne. This is an essential herb for every herb garden and kitchen.
Interesting Notes
The Greeks called this plant 'Joy of the Mountain'. The Greeks and Romans both considered this plant a symbol of Happiness.

Homeowner Growing and Maintenance Tips
Harvest leaves throughout the season, but best before it flowers. Tolerates poor soils, heat and drought. Does best in light, well-drained soil. Allow soil to dry between thorough waterings. Protect from excessive winter moisture.
