Beardtongue

USDA Hardiness Zone 4-9

This is an IMPROVED selection of 'Husker Red' that was discovered here at Hoffie Nursery, Inc. in 2007. Since this exciting discovery, we have been trialing this treasure and building stock for production. We are very proud to offer this improved selection to the plant world, to be appreciated as we do. Foliage is a much deeper and a more intense maroon/purple shade. Besides the improved foliage color, the shorter height of 22-26" is what caught our eye. After years of vegetative propagation, we have also been impressed with the consistency of this selection. The overall performance of 'Husker Red' IMPROVED has proven to be far superior to other Penstemon varieties in our containers and trial gardens. White blooms add dramatic contrast in the summer.
